John D. Winer is recognized State-wide by his colleagues as an outstanding litigation and trial attorney.
He has obtained record setting verdicts and settlements totaling well over $90,000,000 over the last 22 years.
Mr. Winer is frequently asked to lecture to other attorneys in his areas of specialty which includes all types of personal injury cases, defective products, settlement
of significant cases and litigation techniques. In 1994, he spoke on a program with Johnnie Cochran on "Protecting the Young and Oppressed, the Mentally Ill and Incapacitated".
Mr. Winer has received many awards for his contribution to the trial bar including four California Trial Lawyer Association Presidential
Awards of Merit and one California Trial Lawyer Association Outstanding Achievement Award.

Mr. Winer has been recognized as a leader in the San Francisco and State-wide trial bar. He was a Vice President of the Consumer Attorneys of California, the largest
plaintiffs' attorney State-wide organization in the country, for six years and he is currently the President of the San Francisco Trial Lawyers
Association, a leading plaintiff attorney organization in San Francisco.
In his work as Vice President of The Consumer Attorneys of California and
California Trial Lawyer's Association for 6 years and as an executive board
member and board member for another ten years, Mr. Winer has had to
frequently review legislation proposed to protect drug manufacturers from
legal liability. In the course of that work he has become familiar with the
way that these manufacturers attempt to influence legislators to take away
the rights of people injured by their unsafe and dangerous products. Along
with the leadership of CAOC and CTLA Mr. Winer has helped prevent any
significant pro-drug company legislation from passing in California.
Mr. Winer in his role as convention chairman for a number of Trial Lawyer
and Consumer Attorney Conventions has helped organize seminars aimed at
educating plaintiff attorneys on strategies to take on the Big Drug
Companies in defective drug cases.
Mr. Winer has tried over a dozen civil cases with significant drug issues
and has settled hundreds of others.
The great majority of the clients of the Law Offices of John D. Winer are
involved in lawsuits in which the prescription drug medication they are
taking is a significant issue in the case. Because of that, Mr. Winer and
members of his firm have developed special knowledge in the area of
pharmacology and psychopharmacology. In fact, as part of his training once
Mr. Winer became a lawyer in 1979, he enrolled in a anatomy class for
pharmacy students in which he not only learned about the chemical make up of
drugs and drug interactions, but actually performed a 12 week autopsy on a
human corpse with other pharmacy students.
